Ranch or Estancia?

Sometime we can get confuse if a ranch and estancia are the same thing. As we know a ranch is a large plot of land used for raising cattel, sheep or other livestock while an estancia is a large rural estate where people live surround by huge extension of green areas.  In the 19th century stationary ranching ventures started to form in the pampas, with permanent buildings and marked livestock that clearly defined ownership. They were called estancias, the term indicating the stationary, permanent character.
